Where to Stay for Burgundy Wine Tours

Every Burgundy wine tour starts in a set place: a kerb in Dijon, the Beaune tourist office, your hotel, Paris or Mâcon. So choose the town before you make your Burgundy reservation, and the morning takes care of itself.

Three bases work, and each suits a different trip. The blocks below keep the same labels, so you can set them side by side.

Stay in Dijon: the TGV and three kerbs

Best for: arriving by train from Paris, and a first trip on the shared days. Your tours: the shared days from 16 Place Darcy and Saint-Bénigne church, the e-bike day from 78 rue Monge, and the cellar tasting at La Cave du Palais. Good to know: the Côte starts a short drive south, at kilometre zero of the Route des Grands Crus.

Dijon is the larger town, with the Palais des Ducs and a centre you cross on foot. You walk from your hotel to the kerb in the morning and back at about 5 pm. Every day that starts here is on Burgundy wine tours from Dijon.

Stay in Beaune: inside the Côte

Best for: sleeping among the vines, and a stay of two nights or more. Your tours: the Grand Cru route day and the 2CV half day from the tourist office, a shared day you can join at the Hospices de Beaune at 11 am, and most private pickups. Good to know: the town is small, so everything is a walk.

Beaune puts you among the Côte de Beaune's villages, with the Hôtel-Dieu at the centre. Evenings are the reason to stay: you walk to dinner after a day of tastings. Book early for the Hospices sale weekend, 13 to 15 November 2026.

Stay between them: private pickups

The private days come to you. Each sets its own radius, so check that your hotel sits inside it before you book. The table lists each one as it is sold.

A village hotel on the Côte, between the two towns, works well with any of these. It does not work well with the shared days, which start in town. If that is your plan, you want Burgundy private tours.

Staying in a village on the Côte?

The private days collect you from your hotel between Dijon and Beaune and bring you back after the last tasting.

A day from Paris or Lyon

You do not have to sleep in Burgundy at all. The BIVB puts the region two hours from Paris and one from Lyon. The shared day from Paris leaves 6 avenue de Wagram in the morning and returns about 8 pm, and it reaches Chablis.

The private day from Paris collects you from your Paris hotel at 7:30 am and adds Beaune. From Lyon, the Land Rover day sends you train tickets to Mâcon, where it meets you at the station at 9:30 am. For the Côte d'Or itself, the TGV to Dijon is the quicker way in.

Beaune's two tourist offices: which one is the kerb

Beaune has two tourist offices, and the tours that start in town use only one. It is the office at Porte Marie de Bourgogne, 6 boulevard Perpreuil, telephone +33 3 80 26 21 30.

Walk to the address, not to "the tourist office". The Grand Cru route day meets there at 9:30 am, and the 2CV half day meets there too. Both offices, and every other start, are on the Burgundy wine region map.

Car-free checklist

You can do the whole trip without a car. Here is what to settle before you go.

Questions about where to stay

Should I stay in Dijon or Beaune for wine tours?
Stay in Dijon if you arrive by TGV and want the shared days, which leave its centre. Stay in Beaune if you want to sleep among the vines, walk to the Grand Cru route day and dine in the old town.
Do Burgundy wine tours pick up from hotels?
The private days do, in Dijon, Beaune or between them. The shared days meet at a kerb in town instead, and the 2CV half day collects you free within 5 km of Beaune.
Can I visit Burgundy's vineyards without a car?
Yes. Take the train to Dijon or Beaune, walk to your tour's kerb, and let the tour drive. Nobody in your party drives after the tastings.
Which tourist office in Beaune do the tours meet at?
The one at Porte Marie de Bourgogne, 6 boulevard Perpreuil. Beaune has two tourist offices, so use the street address, not the name.

Where these facts come from

The pickups come from each tour's booking page, the distances from the BIVB, and the office from Beaune Tourisme. Verify before you travel.
